Glitch was a 2D browser game with a strong emphasis on multiplayer interactions. It stood apart by avoiding combat mechanics and focusing on cooperative crafting and gathering activities. Players engaged in quests and various tasks that shaped the persistent game world. They were encouraged to contribute to the world's expansion by cultivating plants, trees, cooking, and more. While the game was free to play, players could spend money for avatar customization options.
Upon the initial login, users found themselves in a one-time street where a staff member or designated "greeter" introduced them to the game's basics. Afterward, players explored the world, encountering NPCs and engaging in diverse activities.
Gameplay:
The game featured "groups," serving as in-game tabs similar to modern chat rooms. These allowed players to create or join groups for discussions. Notably, "Live Help" facilitated general gameplay assistance, while "Global Chat" encouraged broader topic discussions.

Glitch experienced testing phases lasting around a week to a month, during which bugs were identified and addressed through revisions based on player feedback and source code updates. Each testing phase concluded with an "End of the World Party" where players celebrated together.
Development:
Unfortunately, Glitch's limited appeal led to its permanent closure in December 2012. However, some of its source code and resources were released to the public. Fan projects such as "Children of Ur," "Eleven," and "Odd Giants" attempted to revive the essence of Glitch in various ways.
Interestingly, Glitch's legacy resonates with Slack, as its development team introduced a group voice chat feature named Huddles, featuring the same jazz track used in Glitch for hold music.
